Tutors
As a local branch of the International Dyslexia Association (IDA), WABIDA is committed to ensuring families are able to connect with referrals and resources that have been identified in knowledge and training as falling within the evidence-based best practices of multi-sensory literacy instruction. It is recommended that any family in search of a tutor understand how to evaluate an educational professional and personally ensure it is the best fit for them.
For guidance in choosing educational professionals, the following IDA Fact Sheets may also be useful:

IDA fully supports the work of The Alliance for Accreditation and Certification of Structured Language Education, Inc. (The Alliance, www.allianceaccreditation.org), the International Multisensory Structured Language Education Council (IMSLEC, www.imslec.org) and The Academy of Orton-Gillingham Practitioners and Educators (AOGPE, www.ortonacademy.org). These organizations represent institutes and agencies that design and provide instructional materials and training regarding language-based learning problems. However, WABIDA is convinced that selection of appropriate diagnostic and/or remedial resources is the responsibility of the inquirer, who alone can best determine the essential elements of compatibility and accessibility.
The International Dyslexia Association (IDA) and the Washington State Branch of IDA (WABIDA) does not endorse, accredit, recommend, or evaluate schools, colleges, camps, or institutions, teacher-training activities, specific educational materials or techniques, diagnostic tests or methods, individual or group practitioners in any such field. WABIDA is convinced that selection of appropriate diagnostic and/or remedial resources is the responsibility of the inquirer, who alone can best determine the essential elements of compatibility and accessibility.
