WABIDA is proud to announce the completion and posting of the

Washington State Dyslexia Resource Guide

Read or download the pdf

This guide is a collaborative effort between The Washington State Branch of the International Dyslexia Association (WABIDA) and the Washington State Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI).  Written by WABIDA board members and supporters, the Dyslexia Resource Guide is designed to provide guidance to schools and families.  Three goals were in mind for this document: 1. Build an understanding of the term dyslexia, 2. Learn how to identify students with dyslexia, 3. Support teachers and parents in educating students with dyslexia.  Additionally, it provides guidance for administrators, educators and caregivers in making the best educational decisions for Washington students with dyslexia.

This collaborative effort, The Dyslexia Resource Team, also includes working with Educational Service Districts (ESDs) around the state.

For more information about these efforts, the expertise and knowledge each organization brings, please refer to this document.

It is an unexpected difficulty with world reading, spelling, reading fluency, and -- by extension -- reading comprhension. As common as the condition may be, myths and misunderstandinggs about. We'll review the facts of prevalence, symptomology, development and treatment -- with reference to current neuroscientific, cognitive, and educational research -- and with practical advice for parents, students, and teachers.
